Refund, Cancellation & Order Changes Policy
Please review our refund and cancellation policy regarding fresh dessert orders and catering services.
Dessert Corner
Effective Date: 29 August 2026
This Refund, Cancellation & Order Changes Policy applies to Instani Pty Ltd (ABN 48 142 526 323), trading as Dessert Corner, House of Platters by Dessert Corner and related Dessert Corner brands ("Dessert Corner", "we", "us" or "our").
At Dessert Corner, we take pride in preparing fresh, high-quality vegetarian platters, desserts, gift products, catering orders and other food products.
Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we are committed to resolving genuine issues with orders fairly and promptly.
This Policy explains when refunds, replacements, store credits or other remedies may be available, as well as the conditions that apply when customers request changes to or cancellation of an order.
1.Your Rights Under Australian Consumer Law
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Nothing in this Policy limits, excludes or modifies any rights or remedies you may have under the ACL or other applicable laws.
Where goods have a major problem, you may be entitled to choose between a refund or replacement in accordance with the ACL. Where a problem is minor, we may choose to provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with the ACL.
You may also be entitled to compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage resulting from a failure to comply with applicable consumer guarantees.
Any rights or remedies described in this Policy are in addition to your statutory rights.
2.Change of Mind
Due to the perishable and made-to-order nature of many of our food products, we do not generally offer refunds or exchanges where you:
- Change your mind
- Select the incorrect product, flavour, size or quantity
- Order more products than required
- No longer require the order
- Are dissatisfied due solely to personal taste or preference where the product is otherwise as described and of acceptable quality
- Fail to collect an order
- Provide incorrect information when placing an order
We encourage customers to carefully review all products, quantities, dates, delivery or pickup details and other order information before completing checkout.
Nothing in this section affects your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
3.Order Changes
If you need to change an order after it has been placed, please contact us as soon as possible.
Depending on the status of your order, we may be able to accommodate changes including:
- Product selection
- Quantities
- Pickup date or time
- Delivery date or details
- Customer contact details
- Other reasonable order modifications
Changes are subject to product availability, production schedules, delivery capacity and whether preparation or procurement for your order has already commenced.
Additional charges may apply where a requested change increases the value or cost of the order.
If a requested change reduces the value of an order, any refund, credit or adjustment will depend on the timing of the request and whether costs have already been reasonably incurred in preparing or procuring products for the order.
We cannot guarantee that changes requested after an order has entered preparation or production can be accommodated.
4.Customer Cancellations
We understand that plans can change.
If you wish to cancel an order, please contact us as soon as possible.
For standard orders that have not yet entered preparation or production, we will generally try to accommodate cancellation requests where reasonably possible.
Because our products may be fresh, perishable or made to order, cancellation may not be possible once:
- Preparation or production has commenced
- Ingredients or products have been specially purchased for your order
- Customisation has commenced
- The order has been packed or dispatched
- Significant costs have already been incurred in fulfilling the order
Where we agree to a cancellation, any refund or store credit offered may take into account reasonable costs already incurred in preparing or fulfilling the order, where permitted by law.
Different cancellation requirements may apply to catering, bulk and customised orders as set out below.
Nothing in this section limits any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law.
5.Catering, Bulk & Custom Orders
Catering, bulk and customised orders may require advance preparation, ingredient procurement, production scheduling and allocation of staff and delivery resources.
We therefore ask customers to provide as much notice as possible when requesting cancellation or significant changes.
Unless different cancellation terms are disclosed and agreed to when the order is placed, cancellation requests will be assessed based on factors including:
- How much notice has been provided
- Whether production or preparation has commenced
- Whether ingredients or products have been specially purchased
- Whether customised products have been produced
- Staff or production resources already committed
- Delivery or third-party costs already incurred
- Whether the products can reasonably be used or sold elsewhere
Where appropriate and permitted by law, we may provide a full refund, partial refund, store credit or another mutually agreed resolution.
If specific cancellation terms apply to a particular catering, bulk or customised order, those terms will be communicated before or at the time the order is confirmed.
Nothing in this section limits any rights or remedies available under Australian Consumer Law.
6.Incorrect Orders
If you receive an order or product that differs from what you purchased, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
Where we have supplied an incorrect item, we will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with Australian Consumer Law and the circumstances of the order.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include:
- Replacement of the incorrect item
- Partial refund
- Full refund
- Store credit, where agreed with you
- Another mutually agreed solution
Nothing in this section limits any remedy you are entitled to under Australian Consumer Law.
7.Damaged, Incomplete or Quality Issues
If your order arrives or is supplied:
- Damaged
- Incomplete
- Unsafe to consume
- Not as described
- With a significant quality issue
- Otherwise not compliant with applicable consumer guarantees
Please notify us as soon as reasonably possible after receiving your order.
To help us investigate the issue, we may reasonably request:
- Your order number
- Photographs of the product, where reasonably available and relevant
- A brief description of the issue
- Details about when the product was received, collected or consumed
- Any other information reasonably necessary to investigate the issue
Each claim will be assessed individually and in accordance with Australian Consumer Law.
Depending on the circumstances and your rights under the ACL, an appropriate remedy may include replacement, refund, partial refund, store credit where agreed, or another remedy.
8.Delivery Issues
Please ensure that the delivery address, delivery instructions and contact details provided when placing your order are accurate.
Refunds are generally not provided where a delivery issue occurs because of:
- An incorrect or incomplete delivery address supplied by the customer
- Incorrect contact details supplied by the customer
- The customer or recipient being unavailable during the agreed or selected delivery window
- Unsafe or inaccessible delivery conditions
- Failure to follow reasonable delivery instructions or communications
- Failure to collect a pickup order
Where we are responsible for a delivery issue, we will work with you to provide an appropriate resolution.
This may include redelivery, replacement, refund, partial refund, store credit where agreed, or another appropriate remedy depending on the circumstances.
The exclusions above do not apply where the delivery issue was caused or contributed to by us or where you are otherwise entitled to a remedy under Australian Consumer Law.
9.Delays
We make reasonable efforts to have pickup and delivery orders ready within the scheduled timeframe.
Occasionally, delays may occur because of circumstances such as unusually high order volumes, traffic, operational issues, supplier delays or events outside our reasonable control.
Where a significant delay is caused by us, please contact our team and we will assess the circumstances and provide an appropriate resolution where required.
Nothing in this section limits your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
10.Promotional Orders
Orders placed using:
- Promotional discounts
- Coupon or discount codes
- Seasonal offers
- Launch offers
- Promotional credits
- Other promotional pricing
remain covered by Australian Consumer Law.
A promotional discount, coupon or offer does not remove or reduce your statutory consumer rights.
Promotional discounts themselves cannot generally be exchanged for cash or transferred to another order unless the applicable promotion states otherwise or this is required by law.
Where a refund is payable for an item purchased at a discounted price, the refund will generally reflect the amount actually paid for that item, subject to your rights under applicable law.
11.Gift Cards
Gift Cards are generally non-refundable and cannot be redeemed for cash except where required by law.
Gift Cards will be issued and administered in accordance with applicable Australian gift card laws, including applicable minimum expiry requirements.
Any expiry date and applicable conditions will be displayed on or provided with the Gift Card where required.
Lost, stolen, damaged or incorrectly supplied Gift Cards will be dealt with in accordance with any applicable Gift Card Terms & Conditions and applicable law.
Nothing in this section limits any rights available under Australian Consumer Law or other applicable laws.
12.Store Credit
In some circumstances, we may offer store credit as an alternative resolution where appropriate and agreed with you.
Store credit will not be provided instead of a refund where you are legally entitled to and elect to receive a refund under Australian Consumer Law.
Where permitted by law, store credit:
- May be subject to reasonable terms and conditions
- May have an expiry date where legally permitted
- Cannot generally be exchanged for cash
Any applicable expiry date or material conditions will be communicated when the store credit is issued.
13.Refund Method
Approved refunds will generally be returned using the original payment method used for the purchase.
Where refunding the original payment method is not reasonably possible, an alternative refund method may be agreed with you.
Where an order was partially paid using a Gift Card, promotional credit or another payment method, the refund may be allocated between the relevant payment methods where appropriate and permitted by law.
14.Refund Requests & Response Time
If you believe you are entitled to a refund, replacement or other remedy, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible after becoming aware of the issue.
To help us investigate your request promptly, please provide where applicable:
- Your order number
- A description of the issue
- Photographs of the product, where reasonably available and relevant
- Your preferred contact details
- Any other relevant information about the order
We aim to acknowledge refund and remedy requests within 1–2 business days.
Depending on the nature of the request, we may contact you for additional information before determining an appropriate resolution.
Each request is assessed individually and in accordance with our obligations under Australian Consumer Law.
Failure to provide photographs or other requested information does not automatically exclude any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law.
15.Refund Processing Time
Once a refund has been approved:
- We aim to process the approved refund promptly.
- Refunds will generally be processed using the original payment method.
- Depending on your bank, financial institution or payment provider, it may take approximately 5–10 business days after processing for the refunded amount to appear in your account.
Processing times controlled by banks or payment providers are outside our direct control.
Where a replacement product, store credit or another resolution is agreed upon instead of a refund, our team will advise you of the applicable timeframe.
16.Food Safety & Reporting Issues
For food safety and quality reasons, customers should inspect their order as soon as reasonably possible after delivery or collection.
Food products should be stored, handled and consumed in accordance with any storage or handling instructions provided.
If there is a safety, quality or other issue with your order, please notify us as soon as reasonably possible.
Because food products are perishable and their condition can be affected by storage, handling, temperature and time, a significant delay in reporting an issue may make it more difficult for us to investigate the cause of the problem.
However, nothing in this section imposes an arbitrary time limit on, or limits, any rights or remedies available to you under Australian Consumer Law.
17.Events Outside Our Reasonable Control
There may be circumstances outside our reasonable control that affect our ability to prepare, supply or deliver an order.
These may include severe weather, road closures, accidents, power outages, equipment failures, supplier disruptions, emergencies or other unforeseen events.
Where such an event affects your order, we will make reasonable efforts to contact you and work with you to find an appropriate solution.
Nothing in this section excludes or limits any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
18.Our Commitment
If something has not gone as expected, we genuinely want the opportunity to make it right.
Every situation is different, and our team will assess each concern fairly, reasonably and in accordance with applicable law.
We appreciate customers contacting us promptly so that we have an opportunity to investigate and resolve issues.
